Nairobi, Kenya: Political parties have up to Monday midnight to submit lists of nominees after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) extended the 5pm deadline.
The deadline had initially been set for Friday 18 but later pushed to Monday 21 at 5pm, after several parties extended the nomination exercise that had been scheduled for Thursday 17.
However, the party primaries were met by numerous interruptions among them delay in delivery of poll materials and disputed results for various political parties.
The latter called for the respective party tribunals to settle the arising maters consequently the time allowed before the submission of the nominees lists was inadequate.
The extension would allow the parties settle the issues to their satisfaction.
A day before the nomination exercise kicked off, the electoral body had warned that it would not extend deadline for submission of party lists.
