Boost for UHURU KENYATTA as KIRAITU backs his PRESIDENTIAL bid

Tuesday January 1,2013 - Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s Presidential bid received a boost on Monday after Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) party leader Kiraitu Murungi declared his allegiance to the son of Jomo.

Speaking during the end of year party at Kinoru Stadium when they launched the party’s lineup for the Meru County, Kiraitu, who is also the Energy Minister, said they will support Uhuru Kenyatta and they will only review that position if there is a fundamental change of political circumstances in the country.

“We are still with Uhuru Kenyatta. We don’t want to support a presidential candidate who will propagate for the dissolution of the APK party,” Kiraitu said.

Kiraitu said they will create an opportunity for Uhuru to confirm that indeed his agenda and that of the APK is the same and he will protect the interests of the Meru community.

The Minister also dismissed some media reports that Meru people are divided and said since the formation of Meru Nation in 1900’s, the Meru community has been voting as a bloc and this year is not an exception.
