GITOBU IMANYARA in major TROUBLE from RAILA’s ODM for associating with UHURU KENYATTA

Wednesday, the 23rd of January 2012 -It seems fresh trouble is brewing within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after the immediate former MP for Imenti Central Gitobu Imanyara complained that the party was delaying giving him his nomination certificate even though he clearly won in the party nominations last week.

Gitobu, who previously joined, left and then joined ODM again, is the party’s best hope of ‘stealing’ some of TNA’s vote in the larger Meru region.

Earlier today the aspirant for the Meru Senate seat took to his twitter account to complain about the Orange party;

“It's now my third day in Nairobi since I came for my certificate of nomination. Nobody is willing to tell me why I can't have it.”

This tweet came hours after Gitubo appeared to suggest (in another tweet) that there are some in ODM who are out to sabotage Raila Odinga’s bid for the presidency;

“I am now convinced that there are elements within ODM's Elections Board out to sabotage PM's campaign from within. What a shame!”

So what gives?

Well from what the Kenyan DAILY POST has learnt ODM’s delay in giving Gitobu his nomination certificate may stem from the anger felt by some in the party that the veteran politician is not fully invested in fighting to ensure that Raila captures the Presidency in the March 4th elections.

This after Gitobu reportedly invited Jubilee presidential aspirant Uhuru Kenyatta for a church service at the Kaaga Methodist Church in Meru last Sunday. Some have read the gesture to mean that Gitobu isn’t really bringing much to ODM (and by extension to the CORD alliance) and is essentially dead weight.
