KCPE results to be released January 25th

Education minister Mutula Kilonzo. Schools will be closed for one week during the election period in March
This year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results will be released on the 25th of January. 
Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo says the delay was caused by the teachers strike.  He said the marking of the examinations has been completed and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is processing the data which might take about three weeks.
Mr. Kilonzo who was speaking at a press conference on Monday in Mombasa said the form one admissions are on course and ‘immediately the results are out the process of admission will start'.
The Minister who was accompanied by Education Permanent Secretary Prof. George Godia and KNEC Chief Executive Officer Paul Wesonga also announced that there will be a one week break from school during the election period in March 2013.
Mr. Kilonzo said following a wide consultation will all stakeholders it has been agreed that schools will reopen for the first term on Monday the 7th of January 2013 with one week half term for the elections and close on the 12th of April 2013.
"The schools will be closed and learners sent home for the election period on Thursday the 28th of February and reopen on the Thursday 7th March 2013'' he said
