Violence rocked Minister for Public Service Dalmas Otieno's campaign rally when a mob of rowdy youth attacked his motorcade.

The youth hurled stones at the minister's campaign team as he toured South Kamagambo Ward in his Rongo Constituency.

The youth who were chanting slogans in praise of Otieno's rival Thomas Mboya Kwanga, smashed the hind windscreens of the minister's vehicle as he drove away.
The minister said some politicians in the area were misusing using the youth by paying them to cause violence so as to scare their opponents.

“Some politicians have resolved on using the youth in a wrong way by paying them to cause violence because they don’t have any agenda for the same youth they are misusing,” the minister observed.

He condemned his opponents for planning the chaos and assured them that he was out to win against them.

“Those who think they can win by scaring opponents should be warned that they are out to lose in the elections,” he said.
Kwanga has since isolated himself from the incident.

The incident took place at Cham gi Wadu trading center as he proceeded to Kitunja primary school where his entourage was to stop for a rally.

The minister was scheduled to address rallies at the shopping center but was forced to cancel his itinerary.

Nobody was injured during the Sunday evening fracas.

The minister had earlier on conducted a series campaign rallies in different villages of Kamgundho, Kondoro, Koyar, Kanyimach and Kogenya Primary schools.

The minister was also touring different Constituency Development Funds projects in his area where he presented cheques for completion of educational projects.

During his campaign rallies minister refuted claims that he masterminded recent attack on a Migori county governor aspirant Mrs. Anne Anyanga, at Rongo primary school in Rongo township.

The attack on the minister is the second in less than a week to be witnessed in Rongo.

Last week, an aspirant for Migori gubernatorial seat Ms Anyanga was accosted by a group of young men who disrupted her campaign rally in Rongo town, forcing her to flee for her safety.

Politicians from the region led by aspirant for Rongo parliamentary seat aspirants Gradus Oluoch, Paul Abuor and mayor for Rongo town Charles Omolo have condemned the violence terming them as cowardly and uncalled for.

Migori OCPD Alfred Makoma said police are investigating the incident and those behind the violence will be arrested.
