Mudavadi: Kenya risks sanctions if Jubilee wins

By Edwin Makiche
KERICHO; KENYA: Amani Coalition has urged Kenyans to vote in a Government that enjoys good working relations with the international community.
The coalition’s presidential candidate Musalia Mudavadi said a government not in good terms with other countries, could have far reaching effects on the economy.
“We need others just the way they need us. I therefore urge Kenyans to vote wisely on March 4, lest we are taken back to days when the country was denied foreign aid,” Mudavadi said on Thursday at Nyayo Gardens in Kericho.
He added: “I suffered great humiliation as a Finance Minister at the time, moving around and trying to mend fences.”
In a veiled attack on the Jubilee Alliance, the Deputy Premier said Kenya depends on other economies to buy her tea, coffee and other produce.
Jubilee Alliance presidential candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto face crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.
Some political pundits and diplomats from the West have warned the country risks being isolated.
Mudavadi also hit out at Jubilee and Cord alliances accusing them of setting their supporters on a warpath.
“This is a high time Kenyans elected sober leaders who can unite them no matter their ethnic or racial background. We, therefore, urge them to look beyond the so-called two horses and vote in a government that will provide answers to their problems,’’ said Mudavadi.
He also said he would ensure Kenyans enjoy full benefits of a devolved government if elected.
“I have a wealth of experience in public service and I was among leaders who drafted the new Constitution and oversaw implementation of projects in various counties,” he said.
Kanu officials Gideon Moi (chairman), Nick Salat (Secretary General), Bafadil Abdul (Organising Secretary) and Information Assistant Minister George Khaniri accompanied the DPM.
Gideon cautioned the Kalenjin community against joining coalitions blindly. He hit out at the Jubilee Alliance, claiming Uhuru was a serial deal breaker and could not be entrusted with the country’s leadership.
