Coalition for Reforms and Democracy partners on a vote hunting mission in Tala, Matuu and Machakos, vow to fight tribalism
Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leaders led by presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga, running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and Trade minister Moses Wetangula yesterday took their campaigns to lower Eastern. The trio attended a Sunday service at the Africa Inland Church, Athi River, before splitting for separate campaign at various towns.
Raila addressed a rally at Tala while Kalonzo took the Cord campaign to Wamunyu and Wetangula to Matuu. They later held a joint rally at Machakos town. Raila urged all those seeking different elective posts and are in the Cord alliance to ensure they popularise the coalition. He likened the polarity of politics Kenyans were faced with to a bee and a housefly, warning that their choice of insect will lead them to either honey or filth.“ It is time Kenyans realised true change through Cord, some of those who opposed the constitution are seeking leadership and must not be trusted to implement the new law,” he said.
He partly unveiled the Cord development plan for the region, including creation of more employment opportunities and the inception of a rapid transit rail in Nairobi and local towns. Kalonzo appealed to Kenyans to elect Cord government, saying the coalition has the capacity to unite the whole country and fight negative ethnicity. Wetangula praised Kenyans taking part in peaceful party nominations and called for the same during March 4 elections. They were accompanied by former Members of Parliament Johnstone Muthama, Fred Gumo, Cyrus Jirongo, Wavinya Ndeti, Defence assistant minister David Musila, among others.
