Saba Saba reiterates support for Nyanja’s Kiambu bid

SATURDAY, JANUARY 5, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY STANLEY NJENGA
Saba Saba Asili national officials have insisted that former Limuru MP George Nyanja will run for the Kiambu governor's seat on its ticket.
The party national organising secretary Joe Kanguchu yesterday said Nyanja is an official member of the party and has paid the nomination fee.
"I was shocked to read on the papers that people masquerading as party officials in Kiambu are claiming that Nyanja has not joined the party. They have no right to speak on behalf of the party as we do not recognise them," said Kanguchu.
David Mbugua, John Waweru and Margret Muriuki, who claim to be the party's officials in Kiambu, said Nyanja has not joined the party. The three claim the party's ticket holder in the race for the Kiambu governor's seat is Bedan Mbugua.
However, Kanguchu said the party has no officials in the grassroot level because it has never held any elections. He said the party has only two signatories, chairman Thuo Mathenge, and himself.
"Only Nyanja has submitted his application papers to us. Mbugua is only a member of the party and has not yet paid for the nominations or application papers," he said.
Kanguchu said Mbugua has not resigned from his job as the general manager of the Royal Media Services as is required. Nyanja and UDF’s James Nyoro defected from TNA saying the party is favouring their rival for the Kiambu governor’s seat.
