You can trust us, Amani assures voters

By Francis Ontomwa
Amani coalition leaders took their campaigns to Bungoma County on Friday with a call to Kenyans to vote for them it the safest alternative to ensure peace after the elections.
Led by its presidential candidate Musalia Mudavadi, New Ford Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi, the coalition insisted it is better placed to ensure peace was realised and sustained.
“We are not a third force as some have repeatedly called us. We are the alternative force that will ensure that all tribe live peacefully together before and even after the election,” said Mudavadi.
The political rally hosted at Post Grounds was attended by several legislators allied to New Ford Kenya, UDF and Kanu. Those who attended the rally included MPs Bonny Khalwale, George Khaniri, Benjamin Washiali, Manyala Keya, Soita Shitanda, Justus Kizito, Yusuf Chanzu Jeremiah Kioni and Nominated MP Musikari Kombo.
Others were former lawmakers Nick Salat, Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, Kipruto arap Kirwa and Raphael Wanjala. Khalwale termed the union between Mudavadi and Wamalwa as a continuation of the journey begun by two great Luhya politicians.
“Masinde Muliro and the late former Vice-President Kijana Wamalwa began this journey which, they unfortunately never finished. The coming together of this two politicians is a fulfillment of the dreams our fallen leaders had,” said Khalwale.
He lashed out at TNA’s Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly calling the Luhya community names but asked the public not to hold a grudge with his Kikuyu community.
Wamalwa said his decision to support Mudavadi was informed by his fear of seeing the Western votes divided. Wamalwa questioned the sincerity and agenda of the three other Luhya leaders who had expressed interest in the presidency but are now supporting different presidential candidate even after being quoted in the media saying they will support Mudavadi.
“My brothers said they will support Mudavadi if he goes to the ballot, where are they now? Charity begins at home. Everybody has been coming to Western for votes, now that we have our own, why don’t we support him?” he said.
He asked residents to welcome CORD politicians who would be visiting the same ground.
